A long history of innovation applied to health.

Carlos Villar MD (1850-1907) was an Argentine scientist specialized in biomedicine and a worldwide pioneer in the development of the enzymatic hydrolysis process, through which bioactive peptides and amino acids are obtained from protein tissues.

In 1878, he presented his doctoral thesis in which he explained the foundations of therapy with hydrolysates:

“Hydrolysates act by stimulating the biological wisdom of the body, supporting and optimizing the body’s innate mechanisms for cell renewal.”

Dr. Villar later applied his scientific studies in clinical practice, starting with the muscle hydrolysate, which he used in 1890 to help in the treatment of a tuberculosis outbreak in the Argentine Army.

In 1950, Dr. Villar ‘s nephews, Alfredo and Pierina Villar, co-founded Villar Biotech to continue his legacy and expand the scope of his research. In this regard, they incorporated a wider range of hydrolysates that help regenerate and metabolically balance a large number of organs and systems.

Currently, Villar Biotech is led by Pierina and Alfredo Villar ‘s nieces and nephew, María Eugenia Romero and Eugenia and Juan Cesana. Their commitment to their ancestor Carlos Villar’s mission of improving the quality of life of patients through innovation in biological medicine remains intact.
